Teenager tells of alleged abuse by Middlesbrough taxi driver
A 13-YEAR-old girl told police how a taxi driver had sex with her in his car after picking her up from a care home.
The girl said Shakil Munir told her she was pretty after collecting her from the Middlesbrough home and driving to a lay-by. However, she later told police she felt “used” after the pair had sex in his taxi.
Mr Munir and three others deny grooming and sexually exploiting under-age girls.
The jury at their trial at Teesside Crown Court were today (Wednesday, November 6 ) shown a video of a police interview with the youngest of the seven alleged victims.
She said: “He told me how much he thought of me.“He told me I’m a really nice girl. He said he wanted to see more of me.”
He later took her back to the care home at around 1.30am, the court heard. The girl said Mr Munir, 32, had been there for her when she had been unhappy because of family problems.
But asked how she now felt about their relationship, she said: “I feel like I’ve been used.”
Mr Munir continued to contact her even after he had been warned to keep away because of her age by a friend’s mother, the jury heard.
The girl told police how she and a friend were driven to a house party by another man, 19-year-old Sakib Ahmed.
She said they were passed a cannabis joint to smoke. Mr Ahmed then asked her to go upstairs where he had sex with her.
Mr Ahmed, of Cambridge Road, Middlesbrough, has already admitted five charges of sexual activity with a child. The charges relate to five girls, one aged 13, three aged 14 and one aged 15.
Mr Munir, of Tollesby Road, Middlesbrough, is charged with four counts of sexual activity with a child and child abduction against two girls aged 13 and 14.
A 17-year-old youth is charged with three counts of arranging or facilitating commission of a child sex offence.
