The Driver Vehicle Standards Agency Taxi test.

News broke yesterday that the DVSA Taxi test is stopping at the end of the year.

This fact is little known and at this moment in time, nothing has been published.

I checked around by Email this Morning, no one knew anything. Even NALEO (the National Association of Licensing and Enforcement Officers) knew nothing about it.

Our good friend Donna, from NPHA rang the Department Concerned (DVSA) and it was admitted that bookings for the test were stopping at the end of the year.

I contacted Steve Garelick of the GMB after lunch and he had heard the same and was working on the matter at that moment. He was amazed that NALEO knew nothing.

I tried to contact Mr Scragg and Ms Marku,(MCR Licensing) but I received the now standard reply.

" I am out of the Office, hard luck".

I sent the email to them early doors but did not get a reply from the auto responder until dead on 4 pm, from both their Email boxes.

The question to ask now. Over 200 Licensing authorities use the DVSA test as their qualification
bench mark for the consideration of Taxi and PH drivers Licenses.

What happens next ? What happens to applicants who have paid and will not recieve a test.

What will happen to Rossendale ? Rossendale have used the test to justify their giving out
licenses like sweets.

I will keep you posted.
