Another Bogus 'Taxi' rape in South Manchester.?

A woman has been raped by a man who had previously offered to take her to hospital.

The 19-year-old woman was walking along Moseley Road, Fallowfield, sometime after 6am on 3 August 2013.

She was seen by a man in a car, possibly a taxi, who offered to take her to hospital as she had visible injuries following an earlier unrelated incident.

She was then raped by the man in Nutsford Vale Park, off Matthews Lane, Levenshulme.

Following the attack, the victim made her way out into Newdale Road, Levenshulme, in a distressed state where she called the police.

The victim is now being supported by specially-trained officers and an investigation has been launched.

The offender is described as a mixed race man, aged between 30 and 40 years. He was about 5"10' tall and a medium build. He had short dark hair and spoke with a foreign accent.

Detective Inspector Simon Davies, of the Serious Sexual Offences Unit, said: "The victim must have initially thought this man was being a knight in shining armour, offering to take her to hospital.

"However, events rapidly took a turn for the worse and he subjected her to an horrific rape ordeal.

"At this stage we do not know if the man was a legitimate taxi driver or if he simply spotted an opportunity to entice a vulnerable woman into his car.

"This remains a horrible attack and we are determined to bring the offender to justice.

"With that in mind I now want to hear from anyone who may have seen this car or the offender at both the pick-up point and the point where she emerged onto Newdale Road."
