LEVC
The Warwickshire-headquartered company famous for its London black taxis has reported the best sales year in its history.
LEVC, which is headquartered in Coventry, sold 2,507 electric TX models in 2019.
The manufacturer said it saw a "significant rise" in demand from taxi and ride sharing shuttle services, more than double than in 2018.
It also reported month-on-month growth since April 2019.
Chief executive Joerg Hofmann said: "Our TX has been a huge success with drivers and passengers alike; the fact that we have more than doubled sales to 2,507 vehicles this year is testament to that.
"The TX provides the perfect solution to the growing demand for green mobility solutions in cities across the world, and we rapidly continue to grow our export business to introduce TX taxi and TX shuttle to more new markets.
"We will also grow our product range in 2020, with the launch of a new electric van.
"This exciting new model will enable the commercial vehicle sector to also benefit from the successful TX combination of eCity technology, unrivalled turning circle capability and renowned durability."

Comment: 2507 unit's sold with a profit (after sales of only 8%) means LEVC made £11 million last year. A £300 million Vehicle facility cannot survive on those sales.

A woman has died after being hit by a taxi in Leicester.
The crash happened at 4.10am yesterday, in Coleman Road, Evington.
The woman suffered severe injuries and was taken to hospital, where she later died.
A 62-year-old man has been arrested and interviewed on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released under investigation.
The woman was hit by a Vauxhall Vivaro minibus, which was initially described by emergency services as a van.
Police are asking for anyone who saw what happened to contact them, in particular a vehicle that was in the vicinity of the collision at the time and left just prior to the collision.
Detective Constable Charlotte Wright said the driver of that vehicle might have vital information about what occurred just before the collision.
“The taxi involved in the collision with the woman has been recovered and investigations will be carried out, but if you saw it prior to the collision, we’d be interested to hear from you," she added.
“If you were travelling in the area at the time and have dash cam, please let us know as you may have vital information which would be of help to our investigation.”

STEVENAGE
A taxi safety campaign launched by Stevenage Borough Council is warning people about the chance of being "lured into a stranger's car, where there is the risk of being mugged or attacked".

Stevenage Borough Council's hard-hitting campaign - highlighted by posters in pubs and bars around the town - warns against using touts because you could be putting your life in danger.
Taxis licensed by SBC are regularly checked to ensure they are safe and legally compliant. Criminal and medical checks are also carried out on drivers.
The local authority is keen to stress that it has no control over taxis operating in Stevenage but not licensed by them, so cannot ensure they are checked to the same standard.
