Addisson Lee head in One Direction

They might be multi-millionaires, but One Direction still know how to blag a free ?ride. A year’s worth of free rides, in fact.

In their new single, Midnight Memories, the boys sing about squeezing all their mates into the back of an Addison Lee cab – a London minicab firm.

They even helpfully show one of the vehicles in their video, with the firm’s logo clearly ?on display.

Given that over 12 million people have by now watched the video, you can imagine how much that publicity is worth to the firm.

Never one to miss a trick, 22-year-old Louis Tomlinson (worth a nice £15million) was straight on to the firm, shamelessly blagging some freebies.

He posted on Twitter over the weekend: “Surely we get some kind of @AddisonLeeCabs gold card for the name drop haha !!??”

Ask and you shall receive – as the firm tell us they have come up ?with exactly that sort of scheme and will be thanking the boys for the gratuitous plug with an entire YEAR of free cab rides. Each.

We're told: “Addison Lee were delighted to be mentioned in the song. They even tried to see how many people you could actually fit in one of their cabs off the back of it.*

London and perhaps Nationwide ?

Capita Travel and Events announces the launch of its new taxi booking service. The service is fully integrated with travellers’ rail confirmation emails. Within a few short clicks of the email it allows travellers to book a taxi that automatically coincides with their train arrival time.

Cost centre details for bookings are pre-populated with the rail booking data to give businesses a better view of the total cost of each journey. Invoicing can be managed by Capita Travel and Events and bookings can also be made by calling the Capita Travel and Events reservations centres.

The service enables customers to cut costs by:
·      Using a taxi share process for duplicate bookings.
·      Pre-agreeing rates for frequent routes/destinations.
·      Promoting use of the London underground by blocking bookings for specific London postcodes.
·      Providing a clear audit trail and transparency on costs.
·      Avoiding costly expense claims and processing charges.

Raj Sachdave (MCIPS), head of rail product UK and International, Capita Travel and Events said, “Businesses want solutions that simplify travel, increase security and reduce costs. They need visibility of what, where and why employees are spending but traditionally, the cost of taxis is difficult to audit.

“The simplicity of our service addresses the challenges above and the changing ways that businesses are buying and travellers are booking. With our integrated data our customers will get a better view of the total cost of each trip and can subsequently reduce spend. Travellers get a better experience as they can book a taxi simply and quickly without the need to pay and claim back the fares.”

Tim Jordon, director of operations, CabFind, the company fulfilling the service, said: “On the back of customer demand, Capita Travel and Events has developed a taxi service that is unique to the business travel market because of its integration with rail confirmations. They saw the potential to simplify bookings in such as way that creates a win-win for businesses and travellers. They are also encouraging a cleaner and safer industry by targeting us to increase the number of carbon neutral vehicles in the fleet.”
